These are notebooks and notes made by Edward Hutchinson in the course of his research. There are 4 notebooks and 3 loose notes.
Graham concentrated some of his research notes and thinking into notebooks.

This notebook includes Hutchinson's suggested corrections for Virginia Thompson's Thailand, The New Siam , published in 1941; notes on Adrien Launay's Histoire de la mission de Siam, 1662-1811 , published in 1920; notes relevant to articles published in Journal of the Burma Research Society ; notes about Burma, Malay and other Southeast Asian countries; notes on a letter written to Général Baron on 26 Dec.1682; and writings on anthropometry.

Notebook with mathematical notes, diagrams and problems. Also contains draft of a [story] and doodles of a face. Handwritten in blue covered notebook, writing begins at both ends of the book. Loose sheet is headed "Prop. 1, June 19th 1800" with mathematical proposition written in Latin

Also contains philosophical musings on man and war, geometrical drawings, notes on Chinese words, diagram for creating a weigh balance, instructions to extract salt and draft lines for a poem. Handwritten in a blue paper cover notebook written from both ends. Reverse cover is missing. Cover states "Some philosophical observations in this book".

This is a single notebook with multiple loose sheets inserted into it. It includes Hutchinson's notes on Horace Molin's Histoire de la revolution de Siam, arrivee en l'annee 1688 and Guy Tachard's Voyage de Siam, des Peres jesuites, envoyez par le Roy aux Indes & à la Chine . In addition, the notebook also includes two photographs of written manuscript; a letter from Hutchinson to Mr. Veitch, dated 20th January 1960; a letter from the University of Hong Kong to Hutchinson, dated 4 February 1961; and a letter from Hutchinson to Luk Lan Rin, dated 9 June 1961.
Notebook containing notes on Tibetan vocabulary. Also some Latin notes and notes on events and people in China; grammar notes; English lists of words. In the back of the book is a partial journal of his time in Tibet - mostly the beginning of the journey and includes an entry about meeting the Dalai Lama "This day I saluted the Grand Lama!! Beautiful Youth. Face poetically affecting. Could have wept. Very happy to have seen him & his blessed smile. hope often to see him again". Large, half-calf notebook, warped, handwritten in pencil and ink.
