  • Letter from Derek Gladwyn to Raymond Head to inform him that he had seen the painting at the National Maritime Museum about which he had asked Head. It was in their stores and he warns Head that they need a week's notice to view the item. Handwritten, dated 18 March 1984.
  • Copy of a letter from Derek Gladwyn to the Curator, Print Room, National Maritime Museum, to ask for permission to view two paintings of the Trial of Four British Seaman at Canton. Typed, dated 19 March 1984.

Handwritten, 2 pieces. Letter from Hal Roth, Brown University, to Angus Graham concerning Graham's comments on his Su Sung's Preface which have been very helpful. He also writes about funding for Graham's possible stay at Brown University (See ACG/18/8). With the letter is a photocopy of some of the draft of Su Song. Handwritten with printed letterhead and photocopy, 5 pieces.

"Letters from Mr Colebrooke to "Belinda" both before and after her marriage to Sir C Smith", "Also on her marriage from Lady E Compton & Lady Northampton". Photocopies of Correspondence primarily between Henry Thomas Colebrooke and his niece Belinda Sutherland Colebrooke (later Lady Smith).

These letters provide a fascinating insight into the relationship between Henry and Belinda and in so doing provide information on foster care, politics, culture and life in early 19th century Britain.
