Copy of a reply from W. Smyth to Brain Houghton Hodgson concerning his pleasure in reading the testimonials of Hodgson. Handwritten, 1 sides, dated 1841.

'Copy of a Report to the Bombay Government on Lithographic Limestone from the South-East Coast of Arabia', written by H.J. Carter, Assistant Surgeon, in which he describes the limestone ridge on the eastern coast which runs in a north-east direction as they approached the south-western half of the Kuria Muria Bay. This forms mountains near the coast with a tableland inland. Carter writes his description to send with some specimens and describes from where he took the specimens. He also writes about the people who inhabit the region.

Copy of a Translation in the Malayalam Arayam Character with an English translation undertaken by Thomas Hervey Baber, of an extract in the Malayalam Arabi character from a manuscript in the 'possession of Ali Raja Beebee (Bibi) of Cananoor, (Kannur,) a principality on the Malabar Coast, 10 Miles North of Tellicherry'. The manuscript was believed to trace the origin of the Bibi's family. With the introductory statement are both the English and the Malayalam translations.

Copy of an article from the "Friend of India, 25 September 1843" in praise of Hodgson's service to Nepal. On reverse side is a copy of the "Address of H. Torrens, Esq., Secretary Asiatic Society" on the occasion of Brian Houghton Hodgson's resignation which again praises the work that Hodgson has carried out. Both handwritten, 2 sides, Friend of India article dated 25 September 1843.

Copy of an extract from the Friend of India, 24 September 1843 praising Mr Hodgson's services to the state. On the reverse is extract from an address by H Torrens on his resignation as Secretary of the Asiatic Society in which he praises the work of Hodgson in gaining new information on the Kingdom of Nature. Handwritten, 2 sides, 1843.

Copy of an extract from the Overland Calcutta Star, 7th November 1845, to welcome Hodgson back to the country and to state that he has returned to pursue his scientific pursuits which they hope will encourage other Europeans in similar endeavours. A bust of Mr Hodgson, which the Asiatic Society requested in recognition of his services, is now in the large hall at the Museum in Park Street. It was executed by Mr Thornycroft and is considered a good likeness. Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 7 November 1845.

Copy of an extract from the proceedings of the Asiatic Society of Bengal for 1 May 1839 in which it was reported that Mr Prinsep was the official channel for the transmitting to Mr Hodgson of Nepal, the diploma and letter of appointment as Chevalier of the Legion of Honor of France. This honour was conferred in light of Mr Hodgson's study of the Buddhistical faith and for his procurement of Buddhist literature, and in making known a great variety of new objects in natural history and science. Handwritten copy, 2 sides, dated 1 May 1839.
