Letter from Edwin Arnold to Bernard Quaritch in which he has forwarded a Journal to show his frustrations about the design. He writes on behalf of himself and the Directors of the Daily Telegraph to thank Quaritch for his kindness and courtesy in the matter. He writes that "little-minded and evil men have disappointed me". Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 6 December 1896.

Letter from Edwin Arnold to Bernard Quaritch in which he introduces to Quaritch a Japanese professor travelling to study commercial chemistry at the University of Tokyo. He has with him a remarkable book – a complete Flora Japonica – which he wishes to sell. He asks Quaritch to advise the professor where he may find the most appreciative purchaser. Handwritten, with printed letterhead, 3 sides, dated 20 August 1899.
