Printed material with handwritten date, 29 April 1909, and signatures of President, Dr. Erik von Drygalsk (1865-1949) and Secretary, Johann Baptist Messerschmitt (1861-1912). The association was founded in 1869 under the protectorate of the governing royal house in Munich. It is the oldest of the three Geographical Societies in Bavaria and was the fifth Geographical Society in Central Europe
