This sub-series contains correspondence between William Pettigrew and other individuals regarding Yumjao Singh's monograph on archaic Manipuri. The book was initiated by Pettigrew during his time in Manipur. After Pettigrew left Manipur for England in 1933, the work was continued by Yumjao Singh who had collaborated with Pettigrew on researching archaic Manipuri, with support from Christopher Gimson. Pettigrew agreed to offer criticism and suggestions to the book.

Letter from Christopher Gimson to William Pettigrew to say that when the manuscript arrives Yumjao Singh would get on with the work and return the manuscript to Pettigrew for criticism and suggestions. He further writes of the situation in Manipur. Handwritten, dated 15 March [1935].

Letter from William Pettigrew to Christopher Gimson to say that Yumjao Singh will have to look up other period of the Manipur Chronicles for his enquiry regarding Europeans visiting Mecklei, and that he doubts any relevant papers were sent to Manipur. He encloses some notes on the subject for Yumjao (with the letter). Typed, dated 11 November 1937.

He writes that he will send the material to him for Yumjao and that Yumjao can get on with the transliteration.
