Part of Papers of Horace Geoffrey Quaritch Wales

Letter from John Allan, Department of Coins and Medals, British Museum London, to Quaritch Wales concerning the rarity of the Sanskrit inscription. He asks if Wales chalked the inscription to make it reproduce more easily and whether that might account for the discrepancies. Typed letter, 1 side, dated 4 November 1938. With this letter is a copy of a reply by Quaritch Wales to say that he had used some white powder. However he will be bringing the inscription back at the end of January 1939. Typed letter, 1 side, dated 16 November 1938.
