Letter from William IV to state that "the King has great pleasure in complying with the wish conveyed to him through Lord Marlborough by the Royal Asiatic Society that His Majesty should become their Patron." Handwritten letter, mounted on a wooden frame. This letter was removed from a picture frame. (The original letter was replaced with a facsimile).

Correspondence concerned with Prince Charles as Vice-Patron of the Royal Asiatic Society. These are:

• Draft letter from the Royal Asiatic Society to Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, to ask whether he would consent to become Vice Patron of the Society. Typed letter with handwritten corrections and annotations, undated.
• Letter from Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that Prince Charles has agreed to become Vice Patron thus making an exception to his decision to refuse such invitations during his navel career. His attendance at the Society's Triennial Dinner is under consideration. Typed letter with printed letterhead, dated 29 November 1972.
• Letter from Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that the Prince has no objection to his name appearing as Vice Patron in the Society's Journal. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 4 December 1972.
• Copy of a letter from B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to acknowledge the Prince's permission for his name to be in the Journal. Typed, dated 16 December 1972.

Supplement Charter from Elizabeth the Second to the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, to remove some of the wording from the original Charter of 1824. The Charter measures 46cm by 32 cm and the seal has a diameter of 16cm. The charter is housed within a presentation box.

• Letter from Dr Gordon Johnson, Royal Asiatic Society to David Hutson, Clarence House, to ask for the continued Patronage and to inform of plans regarding the future celebration of the Society's 200th Anniversary. Copy, typed with printed letterhead, undated.

Correspondence regarding the renewal of the Prince of Wales' Patronage of the Society. These are:

• Letter from Dr Gordon Johnson, Royal Asiatic Society, to David Hutson, Clarence House to ask for the continuing Patronage of Prince Charles. Copy, typed with printed letterhead, dated 1 March 2012.
• Letter from David Hutson, Clarence House, to Dr Gordon Johnson, Royal Asiatic Society, to thank for the letter inviting the Prince to extend his Patronage and to state that the matter will be put before the Prince. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 15 March 2012.

• Letter from Francis Robinson, President, Royal Asiatic Society to David Hutson, Clarence House, to invite the Prince of Wales to continue his Patronage, to inform of the Society's imminent move to Stephenson Way and to invite the Prince to open these new premises. • Letter from David Hutson, Clarence House, to Professor Francis Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that the Prince of Wales will extend his Patronage and to ask to see a draft of any press announcement concerning this. With this letter is a "Notice to organisations enjoying the Patronage of the Prince of Wales" setting out guidelines for the Patronage.
