              Two journals, hardcover, burgundy and tan, containing "Journal of Travel & Observation, H.G.Q. Wales Vol.I-II 1923-1928", handwritten journals, including hand-drawn maps of the areas, of Wales' travels in South America and Southeast Asia. On title page is written "These early writings are not for publication at any time".

              A burgundy and tan hardcover journal. It contains the "Journal of Travel & Observation, H.G.Q. Wales Vol.I 1923-1927", handwritten journal of his travels in South America and Southeast Asia. The journal contains maps of Siam and the neighbouring countries, Java, plan of Petchaburi, Cambodia and Cochinchina, plan of the park of Angkor, ground plan of Angkor Wat and longitudinal section of Angkor Wat. There are also the notes of his journey to a "Himpse of the Pampas", the West & East coasts of the Gulf of Siam, Ayutthaya, Chiangmai, Bangkok-Singapore, Java, Petchaburi, Lopburi, Cambodia & Cochinchina, and Toongmisung.

              Three volumes concerned with British involvement in Java:

              • Java Antiquities, a bound volume composed of four sections including lists, correspondence, a memorandum and private journals.
              • Java Antiquities Craufurd, a bound volume containing two sections, both on the ruins of Javanese temples.
              • British in Java 1811-1812 Contemporary Documents, a bound volume containing multiple manuscripts including letters, contracts, instructions, memoirs, minutes, treaties, notes and reports.

              These volumes provide information and a valuable insight into British involvement in Java during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Additionally, they offer accounts of the architecture (particularly of temples), culture, history, traditions and practices of Java and its people, prior to and during British Rule.

              The Papers of Horace Geoffrey Quaritch Wales contain papers relating to his archaeological work in southeast Asia including expedition notes, personal notebooks, diaries, manuscript proofs, correspondence, newspaper cuttings and maps. Listed within this catalogue are objects and items of furniture which were also part of the bequest of Quaritch Wales' wife, Dorothy, to the Royal Asiatic Society.
