              A paper folder containing 17 documents relating to the Kandána Caves near the Bhór Ghât in the Konkan. These include: No.1 A plan of the Kandána Caves, scale 20 feet to an inch, 6 April 1854. No.2: A drawing of the left front of Chaitya Cave (unfinished), scale four feet to an inch, with a paper of measurements. Nos.3-7: Seven of the eight jubilant figures on a frieze, Chaitya Cave, scale 2 inches to a foot. No.8: A rubbing of an emblem on a pillar, Chaitya Cave. No.9-11: Drawings of a Bas-Relief at the right end of a verandah, an interior pillar, and an ornamental doorway, in the cave next to Chaitya, scale 1/2 inch to a foot. No.12: Two rubbings of the head-dress or turban of the large jubilant figures on the front of Chaitya Caves. No.13: A short description extracted from Henry West's diary - the entry for Good Friday, 6 April 1854. No.14: Caves of Kandána - a description written by Henry West, July 1872.               A folder containing six documents Relating to the Jogeshwar Cave in Salsette. These include: No.1: Plan (unfinished), 1854-5 - scale 30 feet to an inch. No.2: A further unfinished Plan, 1854-5, scale 40 feet to an inch. No.3: The beginning of the elevation of the back wall of the verandah. scale 1/120; a tracing of a sketch of a doorkeeper (decayed), 1848. No.4: A sketch of a Pilaster, with female figure under a tree, scale 1/24. No.5: A sketch of one of the doorways (unfinished) with description, 1857, scale 1/48. No.6: A sketch of a column with its dimensions; and a further sketch of the doorway.

              A smaller piece of card and paper pasted onto a sheet of folscap paper. The first is an impression of what is believed to be a coin found in front of Cave No. 7 in November 1852, with a brief explanatory note dated January 1853. The second is a letter dated to approximately June 1853 sent from Henry West to a Dr. Wilson containing a copy short inscription from Kanheri.

              The addressee is most likely John Wilson, once President of the Bombay Asiatic Society, Bombay Cave Temple Commission and lobbyist for the Archaeological Survey of India. This is indicated to on the folder list; 'Dr. J. Wilson'.
