1994 marked 200 years since the death of Sir William Jones, the founder of the Asiatic Society. Material connected with this anniversary are:

Letter from Chandan Roy Chaudhuri, General Secretary, Asiatic Society, to Dr. D.W. MacDowell, Vice-President, Royal Asiatic Society, to inform of an International Seminar, "The Future of Oriental Studies and the Role of the Asiatic Society", to mark the bi-centenary of the death of Sir William Jones, and to ask for the Royal Asiatic Society to send participants. Dated 25 February 1994.
