Victor Adolphe Malte-Brun (25 November 1816 – 13 July 1889) was a French geographer and cartographer. He was the son of Conrad Malte-Brun, the Danish geographer and the founder of the Société de Géographie.

In 1851, he became a member of the Société de Géographie, and quickly rose to be its secretary-general. He was also principal editor of the Nouvelles Annales des Voyage.

The Royal Thai Survey Department was a Special Services Group of the Royal Thai Armed Forces tasked to conduct land and aerial surveys, geodesy and geophysics works in Thailand. It was officially established in 1885, in the reign of King Rama V. In the first period, it engaged in cadastral survey, which is the survey of specific land parcels to define ownership for land registration, and for equitable taxation.

Peter Williams-Hunt took aerial photographs in reconnaissance missions for the Royal Air Force during and after the World War II. Later, he was interested in the application of utilizing aerial photographs for archaeology studies. He wrote an article on the discovery of Roman site from aerial survey in 1946 (Williams-Hunt & Bradford, 1946). He made the collection of these aerial photographs of Southeast Asia whilst working as an aerial photograph interpreter for the Royal Air Force during and after the World War II.

John Bartholomew Senior (1805-April 9th, 1861), began working as an independent map maker, founding John Bartholomew and Sons in around 1826. In 1888, the firm was renamed The Edinburgh Geographical Institute. Finally, in 1989, the company merged with the Glasgow publisher Collins, as part of the multinational HarperCollins Publishers. The name of Bartholomew survives as the trade name of Harper Collins' Reference department's cartographic databases.
