Author: W.E.D. Allen. Title: Russian Embassies. Section from Allen's book, pp. 227-230, headed 'Armour and Argamaks' with some annotations.

This series consists of images collected by Allen for possible use in "The History of Georgian People" and some research notes. The book was published in 1932, so presumably the material was collated before this time.

Includes information about the importance of Celebi's works as a social history of 17th century Ottoman Empire. Proposes budget for the project and requirements of translators, editors and annotators. Dated: 9 October 1954.

Letter from W.E.D. Allen to Peter Skelton in which Allen requests clarification on their meeting He also writes about Sir Hamilton Gibb's proposal to find someone to translate the Egyptian section of Evliya Celebi and that Allen thought somebody at Durham University was already working on it. He regrets that he has not got a copy of the book Skelton requires but suggests a good bookseller in Rome where he may be able to obtain it. Dated: 14 July 1958.
