Rough sketches and notes of so-called 'Visitor Inscriptions' predominantly from Cave No. 10. There is one inscription from Cave No. 3. The names and dates inscribed onto the walls on Cave No. 10 have been copied in the style and arranged in an order which indicates their location in the caves. These are dated 1678, 1697, 1706, 1708, 1710, 1718, 1735 and 1771.

This collection consists of seven leather bound portfolios containing topographical drawings, maps, floor plans, notes and papers that the West brothers had created when working in the Maharashtra region of India in the mid to late 1800's. The main focus of the collection is the Kanheri Caves; a group of over 109 rock cut temples located in what is today the Sanjay Gandhi National Park on the western outskirts of Mumbai. The brothers studied these caves over the course of several decades, returning to the site many times to check and amend measurements, locations, and expand open their interpretation of the site. The remainder of the collection covers several other sites such as: Ajanta, Ellora and Daulatabad.

Descriptive notes and two sketches regarding the foundations or stepped shelves cut into the face of the rock on the North slope of the large hill at Kanheri.

Ink and pencil drawings of three examples of niches and their designs from Cave No. 45 and 56, including a brief annotation. The niche from Cave No. 45 includes an image of Buddha in Bhumisparsha Mudra. Scale is half an inch to a foot.

A folder containing four items relating to the Montpésir Caves in Salsette. These include: No.1: Short notes by Selby - and Arthur A. West in 1848. No.2: Sketch and drawing of the Tower, 1854, scale 20 feet to an inch. No.3: A Note by Henry West in 1853. No.4: Anquetil du Perron - his sketch plan and notes.

Material relating to the Minor groups of Caves in Salsette. These include the Kondati, Magathán, Montpésir, and Jogeshwar Caves.

Hand drawn ink floor plan of Caves No. 12 and No. 13 on paper. Scale is 15 ft. to an inch. This drawing was presented to the Bombay [Mumbai] Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society in October 1961 and a copy was published in their journal.
