A folder containing nine documents relating to the Bája Caves near Bhór Ghât, in the Deccan. These include: No.1: A general plan of the Caves, scale 30 feet to an inch, No.2: A cross-section of Chaitya Cave, scale 1/4 inch to a foot. No.3: Drawings of Emblems found upon the columns in Chaitya Cave, scale 2 inches to a foot. No.4:Rubbings of two emblems found on columns in Chaitya Cave. These are on newspaper. No.5: Copies of Inscriptions 2,3,4,6 and 7, scale 2 inches to a foot. On reverse is an unfinished drawing of an ornamental bell-doorway, from Cave 13, scale 1/2 inch to an foot. No.6: Drs. This collection consists of seven leather bound portfolios containing topographical drawings, maps, floor plans, notes and papers that the West brothers had created when working in the Maharashtra region of India in the mid to late 1800's. The main focus of the collection is the Kanheri Caves; a group of over 109 rock cut temples located in what is today the Sanjay Gandhi National Park on the western outskirts of Mumbai. The brothers studied these caves over the course of several decades, returning to the site many times to check and amend measurements, locations, and expand open their interpretation of the site. The remainder of the collection covers several other sites such as: Ajanta, Ellora and Daulatabad.

Rough sketches and notes of so-called 'Visitor Inscriptions' predominantly from Cave No. 10. There is one inscription from Cave No. 3. The names and dates inscribed onto the walls on Cave No. 10 have been copied in the style and arranged in an order which indicates their location in the caves. These are dated 1678, 1697, 1706, 1708, 1710, 1718, 1735 and 1771.
