Letter from Dr. Laurence A. Waddell to William Claxton Peppé, in which he writes that they had arrived in Tauliva the day before and had not been able to elicit much help from the Nepalese officials. He writes about places he has visited and hopes to visit and the difference between actual location and map references. Peppé has annotated the letter with a note about the Shiva temple at Tauliva. Handwritten, 3 sides, dated 24 January 1899.

Letter from Dr Laurence A. Waddell to William Claxton Peppé in which he thanks Peppé for his letter and umbrella. He would be glad to have loan of Peppé's large solah topi. He is looking forward to working out the precise location of Tawliva. He asks Peppé to tell him the point at which he crossed the frontier for Gawra and continues with more news of his explorations. Letter from Dr. Laurence A. Waddell to William Claxton Peppé in Birdpore, in which he writes that he will be at Chandapore tomorrow and expects to meet Dr. Hoey there. He asks for 'particulars of the ruins at Mahāpāli near the Mekhra River S. of your house' where there are said to be 'stone images'. Handwritten, 1 side, dated 4 February 1899.

Letter from Dr. Laurence A. Waddell, Medical College, Calcutta, to William Claxton Peppé in Birdpore, in which he writes that he has been deputed by the Government to explore Kapilavastu for about 6 weeks and is starting at once. He has support of Vincent Smith, through whose kindness he introduces himself and asks for permission to see the excavations. He hopes to reach Birdpore on 19 January. Handwritten, 2 sides, dated 14 January 1899.
