Derrett to Michael Pollock, Librarian, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that he needed a new area of research after his publication, Bible and the Buddhists reached its penultimate stage. He is intending to write an article entitled, 'Christ and Bodhisattvas: absolvers of dead sinners'. He asks whether the Society has two apposite publications, Kāranda-vyūha edited by S. Samasvami, and the Sanskrit text of the Saddharma-pundarīka.

Letter from J.D.M. Derrett to Michael Pollock, Librarian, Royal Asiatic Society, to thank for his research and asks for him to send the rest of the first article. He also asks whether the Society has Grünwedel's Buddhistische Kunst in Indien, 1993 and a copy of Indian Antiquary, pp. 249ff. He writes that his second proofs for Bible and the Buddhists are due which will definitely be his last book published. In a postscript he asks for an article from the Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal.

Letter from J.D.M. Derrett to Michael Pollock, Librarian, Royal Asiatic Society, to inform that one page of the copied article is missing and could Pollock please send it. He has recently found a part-copy of J.G. Frazer's Golden Bough which could influence the article he had just despatched to the Journal of the Society. Derrett writes of other research he is undertaking before asking whether the Society's Library contained certain publications by Thiessen, Rogers and d'Alveilla. He also asks for a copy of C.A.F. Rhys Davids' translation of the Kisā Gotamī.
